Conductive Methods in Rubber Keypads
Rubber keypads employ diverse conductive methods to transmit electrical signals effectively within electronic devices. Here’s an in-depth look at these techniques:
- Carbon Pills: These small elements, crafted from carbon-filled silicone rubber, are strategically positioned beneath the keypad buttons. When pressed, the carbon pill connects with the circuit board, facilitating the flow of electrical signals.
- Conductive Ink Printing: Specially formulated ink infused with conductive materials, like silver or carbon, is printed on the rubber keypad’s surface, forming conductive pathways. Upon button press, the ink traces establish contact with the circuit, completing the electrical circuit.
- Metal Domes: These minute stainless steel discs are placed beneath keypad buttons. Applying pressure causes the dome to collapse, establishing contact with the underlying circuit board. This contact closure completes the circuit, registering the keystroke.
- Metal Pills: Similar to carbon pills, metal pills are tiny conductive elements made from metals such as stainless steel. Positioned beneath the buttons, they function akin to carbon pills, enabling electrical signals to pass through when buttons are pressed.
